About Me
Personal Mission Statement:
“To live among others with kindness, inclusivity and honesty. To operate and perform with authenticity, integrity and diligence. To be consistent, loyal and trustworthy with those around me, never straying from the hope on which I anchor my life.”
This statement reflects just a few things I value. Each of us is created with specific, personalized interests and passions that set us apart, allowing us the opportunity to impact our surroundings. How we move through our lives with this responsibility defines us as individuals. Through my life, I have had the honor of attributing this mission statement in both my personal and professional life, including administrative assistance in healthcare, higher education public relations and hospitality and tourism. Hi there!
My name is Shelby Hicks and I am a recent graduate of Baylor University obtaining a degree in journalism. I am a born and raised Texan, residing in a small town between Waco and Dallas! I have many passions in life, with the strongest being connection. I have a great desire in my heart to truly be connected with others, and that begins with knowing their story. Interacting with people around me throughout my life has given me the ability to learn something new every day – and even more about myself.
As you may notice, I enjoy writing and photography. With these creative outlets, I am able to go beyond the surface and really explore my own thoughts and present them in the form of a photo or set of written words. Growing up, I have always had a particular fondness for expressing myself through writing. My late father was a sports reporter and editor, and I believe from him I have been given the ability to write. Words have the power to move and influence others, and writers hold that responsibility.
When I am not writing or snapping photos, you can find me reading a book, cooking with my family or watching the newest Netflix show! Thank you for taking a look at the work I have published here. I hope you like what you see! If you have a shared passion for connection or want to make a friend, feel free to contact me at any time. I love meeting new people!
God bless you. Romans 15:13
